Imagine standing at the edge of a bridge.
On one side is the life you’ve built over decades—a home, a career, friendships, financial independence, and the comfort of knowing where you’ll sleep tonight.
On the other side is uncertainty.
One unexpected event—a job loss, rising rent, a medical emergency, the death of a spouse, a divorce, or simply the inability to keep up with today’s cost of living—can begin to shake that foundation.
For many adults between the ages of 50 and 75, homelessness does not happen overnight. It is often the result of months or even years of increasing financial pressure, isolation, and difficult choices.
Yet most assistance becomes available only after everything has already been lost.
At SeLiMa Foundation, we believe there is a better way.
People should not have to lose their home before someone offers a helping hand.
They need a bridge before they fall.
That bridge may be temporary rental assistance, shared living opportunities, guidance through available resources, help navigating benefits, or simply someone who understands their situation before it becomes a crisis.
Prevention is not only more compassionate—it is also more practical.
Helping someone remain safely housed preserves their stability, dignity, health, and community connections. It also reduces the emotional, social, and financial costs associated with homelessness.
Our mission focuses on adults who often fall into a gap. They may still be working, searching for employment, living on fixed incomes, or caring for a loved one. They are not yet homeless, but they are one unexpected setback away from losing everything.
These individuals are often overlooked because they do not fit neatly into existing systems.
They are not asking for a rescue.
They are asking for a chance to remain stable.
A bridge is built before someone reaches the edge.
That is the vision behind SeLiMa Foundation.
We believe that by investing in prevention, strengthening community connections, and providing practical pathways to housing stability, we can help people continue living with dignity, purpose, and hope.
Because everyone deserves a bridge before they fall.
